GE Healthcare Centricity / athenaPractice integrations rely on HL7 v2 interfaces bridged into our FHIR-normalized schema.

Data Flow

  • HL7 ADT messages drive patient demographics and admission updates.
  • ORU messages deliver lab results and vital signs for measurement-based care.
  • Outbound ORM/ORU messages communicate care plan changes back to the partner when enabled.

Implementation Details

  • Interfaces are provisioned via Redox or another integration engine selected by the partner.
  • Messages are parsed and stored raw in Supabase for audit, with structured data mapped into care.measurements and related tables.
  • ACK/NACK responses return immediately so we do not block the partner’s interface engine.

Security & Monitoring

  • Connections run over VPN or TLS with mutual certificates.
  • Interface heartbeat monitors alert us if messages stop flowing for more than 15 minutes.
  • Replay tooling allows us to reprocess historical HL7 messages without duplicating downstream actions.

Coordinate channel provisioning early; GE interface teams often require 4–6 weeks of lead time.
